about

Written in 2016 as part of the Odin project. this track was originally the last two pieces of Valkyrja and were called "Aftermath" plus a short reprise of the opening section called "Divine Princess". Aftermath was written as an exploration of the conflict in the nature of the Valkyrja; the Divine Princesses of Valhalla: the Gracious high born ladies of the hall, and the savage, elemental spirits of the Battlefield driving all the rage and lust, before choosing the slain, a state in which they were utterly dominated by the fierce spirit of their father, the God Odin.

Curious then to see that this itself was a metaphor for somebody I used to know and a good illustration of how we can be thinking about someone, without being aware of it.
I think I really was describing; as I remember seeing it, the conflict in the life of a very special young lady, as she grew into womanhood. Being faced with two very different existences, in two utterly and diametrically opposed lives. Trying so hard to forge a single identity that could exist simultaneously in both, without being forced to live a schizophrenic existence, as different people in each of them.
I wonder how this conflict was resolved? assuming that it ever was.
Maybe it is a conflict that continues in one form or another, into the present day?

This track was wholly composed on the Sonigen Modular synth and processed with Logana Effects Unit and the Atlantis Filter Block.
Produced on Ableton Lite
